RUDE, CRUDE & TATTOOED

SIN CITY GALLERY PRESENTS ‘RUDE, CRUDE AND TATTOOED’
BY WORLD RENOWNED PHOTOGRAPHER JUSTICE HOWARD
LAS VEGAS – Internationally renowned photographer Justice Howard will exhibit her “Rude, Crude and Tattooed” imagery at Sin City Gallery, Oct. 26-December 31st. On Thursday, Oct. 26. An intimate VIP reception at the gallery with Howard from 7-10 p.m is planned. Her showing will unveil 30 new and powerful tattoo photographs during “The Biggest Tattoo Show On Earth”. Howard is rated as one of the top 10 tattoo photographers in the world. She released her 12th calendar entitled “Lady Ink” featuring tattooed women that has been described as the “glamour calendar with an edge.” The calendar sold out in its first printing. ‘Lady Ink 2013’ will follow suit.
Delving far beneath what first meets the eye is Howard’s specialty. She is credited with hundreds of thousands of iconic images of a multitude of memorable personalities, both obscure and ridiculously famous. The Lord Balfour Hotel reopening in South Beach, Florida showcases her art as wall sized murals in 64 of its rooms. Images also to appear on large rugs throughout the hotel. The Tattoo Bar located in Washington, D.C. showcases 40 of her images, some portrayed in 7 foot high backlit illuminated light boxes lending the bar its edgy vibe.
This prolific “huntress of the lens” has more than 500,000 images in her portfolio and is known internationally in more than 25 countries. Her first camera was a very basic Pentax Spotmatic II until she fell in love with Nikon. Originally starting out as a fetish photographer she became bored when fetish became mainstream and moved forward to incorporate other styles of photography. Howard’s technique is vibrant and crisp, supernatural and intense, alluring and compelling. Every shot stands illuminated and shines above and beyond other known works.
“Sin City Gallery is overwhelming pleased to be presenting Justice Howard’s sensational and thought-provoking photography,” said the gallery’s curator, Dr. Laura Henkel. “Howard’s edgy images further add to creating the sexual tension that is becoming the gallery’s distinct placement in the growing and sophisticated downtown Las Vegas art scene.”
Sin City Gallery is located off the Strip in the famous Arts Factory, situated in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas’ thriving arts community, at 107 E. Charleston Boulevard, Suite 100. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 1 to 7 p.m. For information, updates and exhibition calendar, call 702-608-2461 or visit www.sincitygallery.com.
GUEST SPEAKER AT PHOTO DINNER
P R E S S R E L E A S E
Photography “Lenstress” Justice Howard presents “Out of the Box – Creating Evocative Work: Celebrities, Glamour, Pin-Up, Erotica & Lifestyle Art” at C&F photography dinner.
* Date: Wednesday, February 29, 2012
* Time: 6:30 – 10 p.m.
* Place: The Castaway, 1250 Harvard Road, Burbank, CA 91501
Photography “Lenstress”, Justice Howard, who credits Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Herb Ritts as having influenced her photographic style presents “Out of the Box - Creating Evocative Work: Celebrities, Glamour, Pin-Up, Erotica & Lifestyle Art” at Clickers & Flickers’ monthly photo-networking dinner. Justice Howard is internationally acclaimed for her works in over 25 countries with hundred of print features, dozens of anthologies, many successful art gallery exhibitions, works in hardcover coffee table books and magazines that stretch from French Vogue to Esquire to Easyriders.
What does the image of a crouching woman with a massive Mohawk, sporting nothing but a sneer and a body-full of retina-staining tattoos, have in common with a subdued black-and-white portrait of singer Waylon Jennings? On the surface, it would appear there could be no possible connection, but delving far beneath what first meets the eye is photographer Justice Howard’s specialty, and it is she who is responsible for those two, as well as thousands of other iconic images of a multitude of memorable personalities, both obscure and famous. Marilyn Manson, Siegfried & Roy, Dave Navarro, Rich Little, Blue Man Group, Mamie Van Doren, Playboy Playmates and Penthouse Pets have all been captured by this highly skilled Lenstress, who states “While I was a traditional film person for many years spending hours in the darkroom developing my own prints, I moved on to digital and love it although I still rely on both a Hasselblad film camera as well as my Nikon digital equipment.”
Ms. Howard’s gift stems not only from her ability to make her subjects feel at ease, but she is possessed of a transcendent gift that enables her to effortlessly affix the essence of her subjects’ human frailties, as well as their triumphs, upon the film. Laying bare for the viewer much more than mere flesh, Howard’s works are evocative pieces of art that appeal to everyone from the casual observer to the most refined aesthete. Entire venues, from an upscale hotel lobby in Miami, to a posh Washington D.C. watering hole, have literally been designed from the round up, in shrine-like reverence for her imagery. Besides magazine and book projects too numerous to list, she takes pride in having been voted “Favorite” photographer, over such masters as Helmut Newton and Irving Penn, on the womeninblackandwhite.comwebsite. What’s next for this irrepressible lenstress? Suffice it to say that Justice Howard, like any other force of Nature, will leave an indelible impression, no matter her direction.

MY NEW HOTEL ART
The Lord Balfour, will be making its debut in winter 2012 after a multi-million dollar renovation with Justice Howard artwork in all 64 of its rooms.. This South Beach hotel is situated directly on Ocean Drive, South of Fifth Street, in a neighborhood better known as “SoFi” to the locals, sitting steps away from warm turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. The 64 bright and airy guest rooms offer a refreshing spin on its interior design by weaving in a bit of the history of Lord Balfour, a Prime Minister of England and an Earl. Fully entrenched in his formal titles and British traditions, Balfour was considered to be totally irreverent. It is whispered that he and Lady Elcho were greater than friends and less than lovers, which was a liberated idea for their time and titles. We live in a new era – and this is South Beach and it is badass!
